Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Transcriber: Audio to Text for Android handles information. Transcriber is designed to process recordings on your device rather than sending them to a cloud transcription service.
Information stored on your device
The app can store audio recordings, imported audio references, transcripts, timestamps, model files, and app settings on your Android device. You control this information through the app and Android storage controls. The app does not operate an account system for this data.
Audio and transcripts
Transcription runs locally after a speech model has been downloaded. Transcriber does not upload your recordings or transcripts to the developer’s server for processing. Do not share recordings with third-party apps unless you have reviewed and accepted those apps’ privacy practices.
Network access
The app may connect to download speech models and related model files. Those downloads are not your recordings or transcripts. The app may also open an external translation or assistant app when you explicitly choose that action from the transcript screen. The selected external app then handles the text according to its own policies.
Permissions
Microphone access is used to record audio when you start a recording. Notification access, where requested by Android, is used to show progress for model downloads and long-running recording or transcription jobs. File access is provided through Android’s document and folder pickers when you choose an audio file, export location, or storage folder.
Analytics, advertising, and sale of data
Transcriber does not require an account, does not include advertising, and does not sell personal information. The app does not use a developer-operated analytics profile for your recordings or transcripts.
Children
Transcriber is a general-purpose utility and is not directed specifically at children. We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app’s data practices change. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated with any revision.
